John was the vicar of Dent from 1822 to 1859 having been ordained as a Deacon in Lincoln in 1816. In the 1861 census, widow Jane and daughter Margaret Isabella are living at Langcliffe, Yorkshire. In 1881 Margaret is living at Thorns Hall, Sedbergh with her niece Maribel Sedgwick and in 1901 with her nephew Adam Sedgwick.
