In 1841 John is a gamekeeper living in Armitage. By 1861 he is working as a railway pointsman and living in Wolverhampton. In 1871 his grand daughter Sarah Ann is living with the family. By 1881 William and Ann are living with John in Wolverhampton. Williams career changes between the railway and canals dependant on the census in question.
