Richard was a commission agent in the tea trade in 1881. Four sons went to Cambridge University - Sidney, Howard, Richard and Arthur. Winifred attended Oxford University. Lawton was a veterinary surgeon at the time of his second marriage. He describes himself as a bachelor.
