John was a pork butcher like his father. In 1881 he is living in Brampton. In 1891 he has moved to Kirkby in Ashfield. By 1901 he is working as a bricklayers labourer - perhaps the business failed? John and Emma are in Basford in 1911 as is their son John and his wife.
