John Sedgwick In the 1841 census the family are living in the Edgeware Road, Marylebone except Frances junior who is working in Clerkenwell. John was a coach trimmer?. John was described as a widowed herbalist in 1851 and as dependant on his family in 1861. His son in law George Stevens was another herbalist and more interestingly a gold beater. This links him to Edward Parsons Sedgwick a gold beater with Bristol connections. Son Charles was an apprentice to a gold and silver beater in 1851. He is next found in the US 1880 census with his wife and son. Both men were gold beaters. |
