Ralph Sedgewick [John Robinson / Eleanor Sedgwick]
In 1841 Ralph is described as a tinker. By 1851 the family had moved to Easington. Most of the family earned their living in the coal mines of the area. It is possible that the family are linked to the Recusant Sedgwicks of Yorkshire. Grandson George was previously assumed to be the son of John however it sems more likely that he is the illegitimate son of one of his sisters - he is attributed to Phoebe for now. Any solid proof for his parentage would be very welcome. |
